It’s not often that I literally feel like family walking into a restaurant, but I certainly had this experience at Namit recently. The restaurant has traditional breakfasts, soups and traditional favorites like Chicken Adobo; however, we were most excited about their regional specialty dish called Bacolod Chicken Inasal. Here at Stirfryable we love to find those regional items at restaurants and bring them to light. Bacolod is a city on the northwest coast of the Negros Islands in the Philippines. The dish is marinated in a mixture that includes the very distinctive Calamansi juice. The chicken is grilled and basted with a house made annatto oil.

We were in need in of some comfort food when we stumbled upon Namit and opted for two soups. Marc enjoyed the molo soup, a chicken wonton soup garnished with green onions and roasted garlic. Rachel ordered the arroz caldo, Filipino congee with sticky rice. The arroz caldo was made with sticky rice, a hard boiled egg, tofu, and topped with Namit’s own ‘Mark’s Chicken Nuggets’.

The food was very special because of how much thought the family puts into everything in the meal. They were extremely excited to share details on the fundraiser for the local school on Lawrence Avenue. During our visit they chatted with us throughout our whole meal, which made us feel that we were a part of their family. The small dining room allows for this intimate type of environment that is so seldom found in today’s restaurant scene. Overall, we love what the family is doing for the Lincoln Square neighborhood. We hope to support them and try the regional specialties (Chicken Inasal) next time as well!
