Recipes

1. Chimichurri

This is a straightforward recipe that is more of an improvised exercise than anything else. The ratio of ingredients is totally up to you and the order you add them can have a big impact on the final product.

2. chicken milanesea

This is the unofficial dish of the country and you may have seen similar looking breaded cutlets in many other cuisines. Heck, American style chicken tenders are a related food.

3. gnocchi

There is a day devoted to Gnocchi in Argentina every single month, so it’s certainly worth learning to cook it and even make the pasta yourself. This recipe from curious cuisiniere is a great starting point and even includes a wine pairing with an Argentinian wine.

Local Chicago Argentinian restaurants

1. Barra N

This sleek spot in Avondale trends the youngest of most Argentinian spots. You’ll be able to catch a dj here if you’re lucky certain nights.

2. artango

This restaurant is a well-known fixture in the Lincoln Square community. It’s perhaps the most recognizable Argentinian spot on the North Side. Their empanadas are divine.

3. la nonna

The most underrated and somewhat unknown of the Argentinian restaurants in Chicago; however, natives of the country argue this is the best spot for cooking that reminds them of home. It’s in a quiet area of Avondale just west of Addison and Pulaski near the Blue Line.
